Village Studios day 1

When we hit the studio at 9am this morning John Mayer was loading his stuff in our room, we thought we were tardy, we were moved to the room where Fleetwood Mac recorded "Tusk" and where Elton John and Elvis Costello amongst others had made records. The vocal booth was designed by Stevie Nicks, they brought in Oscar Peterson's piano for me to play and I also asked them to tune the 7ft concert grand sitting in the corner, a "Fairchild"compressor was brought in for the vocal chain. We then took a tour of the studio while the staff prepared the room and transferred files. Many great records have been made at this studio, it is full of history, secret passage ways and Stevie Nicks Buddha sugar bowl ( we didn't dare peek inside). About noon the session started rolling and the music was banging, all in all we got through 6 tracks today, the staff was gracious and helpful, the vibe was incredible and I made a new friend! Looking forward to tomorrow! JMFT
